As of October 1, 2018, new and renovated buildings in Pennsylvania must comply with the 2015 International Energy Code (IECC) with the exception of the City of Philadelphia which has adopted the 2018 IECC. This presentation will highlight the changes in the 2015 IECC as compared to the 2012 IECC, Explanation of the requirements necessary to comply with the 2015 IECC such as vacancy vs. occupancy, individual controls, daylight controls exterior control requirements, the differences between the 2015 IECC and ASHRAE 90.1 2013. Lastly, we’ll take a brief glimpse into what the future holds in terms of upcoming energy code changes.

With 28 years’ experience as an electrical designer working on a variety of projects including healthcare, higher education, offices, and retail, John has had the opportunity to see the energy codes evolve over the years. John is a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), past president of the Pittsburgh Section and currently serves as the Section Secretary. He is also Lighting Certified (LC) and a member of NCQLP.
