Circadian Lighting Solutions for Office Workplaces

When:  Oct 24, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM (PT)
Associated with  The IES Las Vegas Section

Perhaps you've hear recent media headlines about circadian sleep cycles and health. But what does that mean, and more importantly why does it matter to you? People matter. We can design spaces to better support people's physiological needs. This directly relates to happiness, well-being, and ... money. Employees or clientele, are your most expensive asset and lighting can be used to influence these factors. Lighting is not just about wattage consumption or a consumer good, there are other important factors that successful lighting solutions address. We will review several components of quality lighting solutions and why they matter:

  • Quality and amount of light (daylight and glare)
  • Creating visual interest which can combat fatigue
  • Circadian and lighting for well-being
  • Energy efficiency and maintenance

In this session, experienced lighting industry experts will walk attendees through the factors associated with successfully implementing a quality lighting system. They will outline the importance of improving our baseline design standards to design for "less harm" and the fight against the epidemic of misinformation. Various design solutions will be reviewed, control schemes outlined and options for circadian lighting will be discussed. Lessons learned and overview results from case studies and recent installations.
