As the Director of Transportation and Safety Lighting Programs, I manage the Lighting Research Center’s research activities in transportation lighting and safety. I lead research on mesopic vision, disability and discomfort glare, brightness perception, flicker and stroboscopic effects, light pollution, vehicle and roadway lighting, signal lighting, color perception and human factors. As an Adjunct Faculty Member, I teach in Rensselaer's graduate programs in lighting and architectural sciences, focusing on research methods, experimental design, human factors and statistical analysis.
